A devastating fire broke out at Tantra Hill Court Pub on Monday, February 17, destroying more than 50 shops and homes. Thankfully, no casualties were reported.
The fire started around 1 p.m. in a wooden structure and quickly spread after multiple gas cylinders exploded, leaving little in its wake. Despite the swift response from the Ghana National Fire Service, much of the area was already engulfed in flames before they managed to bring the situation under control.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze may have been caused by unattended children playing with fire.
One of the victims, Emissa Monica, expressed her grief over the loss of all her possessions.
“I have lost everything. All my belongings have been reduced to ashes. I had about GH₵500 in my room, and it’s all gone in the fire,” she lamented.
