Ghanaian striker Jordan Ayew scored a dramatic 98th-minute winner to cap a remarkable comeback as Leicester City defeated Southampton 3-2 at St. Mary’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Ayew’s late goal secured a vital victory for Leicester, who overturned a two-goal deficit to claim all three points in their away match. This win comes after the Black Stars’ disappointing results in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Southampton initially took control of the game, with Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo giving them a 2-0 lead before halftime.
Leicester began their comeback in the 64th minute when Facundo Buonanotte scored after being set up by Ghanaian winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku. Ten minutes later, Jamie Vardy converted a penalty to equalize for the visitors.
Ayew, 33, sealed the win with a well-taken strike deep into stoppage time, marking his first goal for Leicester City in seven Premier League appearances this season.
