Kumasi Asante Kotoko have take the top spot on the Ghana Premier League standings after inflicting a 2-0 loss over Karela United who were on top of the league before today’s clash.

The Porcupine Warriors go top of the league table for the first time this season with 23 points from thirteen matches as Karela drops to second spot on 22 points same as Bechem United.

Karela United FC defeat is their first on home soil as goals from Kwame Poku and Imoro Ibrahim all three points for the team currently coached by Johnson Smith, a former coach of the Anyinase side.

Imoro broke the deadlock in the 36th minute before Poku scored the second for the Porcupine Waariors and personally his 7th of the season.

Karela United would be disappointed with their performance as they created several decent goalscoring chances but likes of Diawisie Tayor, Kwame Boateng and Frankly Osei failed to be clinical.

The hosts will be cursing their stars as they missed clear goal scoring opportunities both in the first and second halves respectively.

Asante Kotoko now turn their attention to continental football as they host Algerian side ES Setif in CAF Confederation Cup playoffs first leg in Accra on Val’s day.
