Ken Kuranchie, legal counsel for Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, has strongly defended his client’s innocence following his detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, the former Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority, is currently under investigation for financial matters linked to his tenure as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF). The inquiry primarily examines financial approvals made during his time at GIIF.
Although specific details of the case remain undisclosed, Kuranchie has emphasized the importance of following due legal process while maintaining that his client has done nothing wrong.
Speaking to Citi News’ Samuel Ackom, he stated, “Investigations have just started, so let us wait and see what turns out next. My client is innocent. He is innocent of absolutely all charges. But we shall see; let the government build its case.”
