The Kintampo Division of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Umaru Aliu, 30, for murdering his 28-year-old brother, Sumanu Aliu.
Briefing the press, the Bono Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Oppong Augustine said that at about 1:30pm on Thursday, Abukari Aliu, 32, a cattle owner at Babator Kuma in the Kintampo Municipality reported to them that about 11:30 on Wednesday a misunderstanding ensued between his two younger brothers.
According to Chief Inspector Oppong, the matter was resolved and Abukari Aliu sent his cattle for grazing. But when he returned home at around 3:00pm, he found his brother, Sumanu Aliu, murdered, and in a supine position with cutlass wounds on his chest.
Abukari Aliu, without a shred of doubt, suspected Umaru Aliu for the murder. But he could not trace him anywhere. So he quickly informed the police, who, hurriedly mounted a manhunt for Umaru Aliu and apprehended him at his hideout near Kunsu.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Kintampo Municipal Hospital morgue for autopsy, while Umaru Aliu, whom, upon interrogation, admitted to murdering his brother, has been detained by the police to assist in investigation.
“Civil societies have zero tolerance for such heinous crimes, and the suspect will soon be made to face the full rigours of the law,” Chief Inspector Oppong said.
