Another student has been arrested in connection with the recent disturbances at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) as police continue to hunt for perpetrators involved in the August 18 incident.

This brings the total number of arrests made to six. The suspect also pleaded not guilty to the charges of unlawful damage and causing harm.

The Asokore Mampong District Court on Tuesday (October 4) remanded the suspect and three others who are also facing similar charges into police custody.

The case has been adjourned to October 13.

The lawyer for the 6th accused person, Elvis Ofori Asante has expressed his disappointment at the rejection of his client’s bail application, In a sideline interview with journalists, the defense counsel said instructions would be taken from his client on whether to move to the High Court for a bail application.

“You go to court with a mission and you don’t get it, you would be disappointed. But per our training, we don’t throw our hands up in despair, we do our best to follow the procedure and then get to other fora if possible or come back to the same forum for a repeat application on the bail. I will take instructions from my client, if he gives me the authority, we would do that.”
