A former Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has lauded the Deputy Chief of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye, for his continuous efforts towards the development of the constituency.
“Ever since I knew Asenso-Boakye, he has been of tremendous support to this constituency in diverse ways,” Mr. Kokofu said when Asenso-Boakye who is vying to become the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Bantama in the December general election presented 700 LED streetlights to the Bantama sub-Metro in Kumasi.
Earlier, Asenso-Boakye had donated an ambulance to the Suntreso Government Hospital, donated hospital beds to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, and constructed the first basic school for Ohwim-Hwidiem, including ongoing construction of a modern Astroturf, distribution of computers, books and other educational materials to various schools in the constituency.
“Today’s presentation will go a long way to protect all of us who reside or do business within the constituency,” Mr. Kokofu stressed.
He said Mr. Asenso-Boakye had initiated and facilitated several intervention projects in various sectors of the constituency aimed at improving the living standards of residents and also ensuring the stability, progress and long-term development of the constituency.
The Deputy Chief of Staff said at the presentation ceremony that it was necessary to beef up security to protect lives and property in the constituency, and the streetlights would go a long way to solve some of the problems.
He recounted some experiences where constituents had fallen victim to a number of robbery incidents, saying “the security of our people and properties is of major concern to me. For that matter, I will do all that I can to advance the safety of our people.”
“These incidents are worrying and if not curtailed, they can seriously undermine developmental efforts being made. I had, therefore, started mobilizing for these items even before the call for support came. I believe this will go a long way to improve the lighting and security situation of our communities,” he concluded.
The administrator of the Bantama sub-Metro, who received the streetlights, expressed profound appreciation to Mr. Asenso-Boakye for his commitment to develop the constituency.
