Kotoko 2-3 King Faisal: City rivals silence unbeaten Porcupine Warriors

Asante Kotoko suffered their first defeat of the season by losing 2-3 to city rivals King Faisal at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in Kumasi.

‘Tormentor’ in chief Zubairu Ibrahim grabbed an impressive and stupendous hat-trick to make sure the Porcupine Warriors taste defeat for the first time in the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season after six matches.

Both teams started very well but it was the visitors who struck first through Zubairu after just four minutes showing on the clock.

The youngster scored again on the 18th minute mark with a brilliant finish to make it 2-0 to the away team before the end of the first half.

Two minutes after the break, Cameroonian import, Mfugue Omgba scored a consolation goal to bring the Red and Whites outfit into the game following a goalkeeping error by Frank Boateng.

Kotoko piled pressure on their opponents searching for the equalizer but failed to take their chances.

Zubairu Ibrahim scored at the other end of the filed after a swift counter attack by the King Faisal to bag his hat-trick to make it 3-1.

Few minutes later, Mfegue scored with a beautiful header to reduce the deficit to one again with over 15 minutes to play.

Both teams had chances to score but none was able to to do so as King Faisal FC beat Kotoko 3-2 on the day to break their unbeaten streak in the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season on week six.
