Ghana giants Asante Kotoko have snapped up Ugandan striker, George Abege, from Kenyan side Kariobangi Shark on a three-year deal.
Abege signed for the Kumasi-based club on Tuesday after helping his former club Kariobangi Sharks to beat English side, Everton 4-3 on penalties in the SportPesa Cup on Sunday.
The tall and powerful talisman was one of Kariobangi Sharks’ dangerous and promising assets and his inclusion in the team will be of great help to Asante Kotoko’s campaign in Africa’s elite club competition.
The Porcupines have received the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from the player’s former club and the player is expected to arrive in Ghana this week.
Kotoko after reaching the group stages of the Confederation Cup competition last season are aiming for an improvement in the Champions League this season and has been very active in the transfer market signing numerous players for various positions to augment their current squad.
Asante Kotoko took notice of Abege in the Confederation Cup’s preliminary round tie against Kariobangi Sharks when the two sides met.
Abege on his day could prove very difficult for defenders with his ability to hold the ball, his aerial presence, his predatory nature as a player and has an eye for goal from long-range as well.
