The Public Relations Officer of Karela United, Eric Alagidede, says their opponent for the Ghana Football Association NC Special Cup tier one, Asante Kotoko can boast of just three good players.
According to Alagidede, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Abdul Fatawu Shafiu and Abdul Ganiyu are the only current Asante Kotoko players that can break into the Karela United team.
“Only three players at Kotoko can make it into the team of Karela United presently and they are no other than defender Abdul Ganiyu, Winger Emmanuel Gyamfi and Striker Abdul Fatau Safiu. Aside from them none of their current players can make it into our team,” Alagidede told Oyerepa FM.
On their final game against the Porcupine Warriors on Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Alagidede said ”we will be awarded a penalty against Asante Kotoko because our players will give the defenders of Kotoko a hell of a time which they will have no option but to foul them”.
Karela United will battle Asante Kotoko for a chance to represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League if they manage to upset Kotoko in the finals of the NC Special Competition tier 1 on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Karela United’s Diawisie Taylor (11 goals) and Asante Kotoko’s Abdul Fatawu Shafiu (10 goals) will be battling for the topscorer’s award in tier 1 of the NC Special Competition.
