The Tafo Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region has opened a murder investigation after a 30-year-old man was reportedly butchered by unknown assailants at Krofrom in Kumasi.
The deceased identified as Kwabena Azuri, popularly known as ‘Candy’, reportedly sustained multiple knife wounds in what witnesses say were a reprisal attack by the suspects.
Narrating the incident to Asaase news the Assembly member for Krofrom electoral area, Patrick Kwame Frimpong said the incident occurred at around 6:30 pm on Wednesday at Abease in the Krofrom electoral area.
He also revealed that the murder was a result of a reprisal attack by the suspects who were defeated by the deceased in a scuffle in January last year.
“Yesterday around 6:30 pm to 7 pm, the incident happened at Abease at Krofrom electoral area. About one year ago, the same incident happened in the Osofo Abodwese area between the same two groups and one of the other group members got wounded because of that, one year later which is yesterday, the other group also came and fought against this group which resulted in one of them getting killed.
About four or five names have been mentioned to the police, so the police are investigating the issue,” he said.
The body has since been deposited at the morgue at Tafo Government Hospital. The police are yet to confirm an arrest.
