Black Meteors management committee chairman Frederick Acheampong says Ghana’s star player Kudus Mohammed is not eligible to play for the Ghana U-23 team.

He says the player was born in 2000 and that makes him ineligible to represent Ghana at 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco which starts later thus month.

This comes after a public outcry for the inclusion of the Dutch Eredivisie giant AFC Ajax Amsterdam star player to help Ghana qualify for the 2024 Olympic games in Paris, France.

Acheampong lifted the lid on the the situation of the Ghana star boy, stating, “Kudus Mohammed is not eligible because he was born in the year 2000.”

“However, there are other players in the Black Stars like Kamaldeen and Ernest Nuamah who will be needed in the Black Meteors squad”, he added.

Kudus has been a great and a delight to watch this season in the UEFA Champions League and Dutch Eredivisie for his team banging in the goals and attracting interest from big clubs.

Ghana last played at the Olympic Games in 2004 in Athens, Greece where they suffered a group stage elimination.
