Some 22 customers have been hauled before a district court in Asokwa in the Ashanti Region for failing to pay their water bills to the tune of GH¢198,762.07.
The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) which took this action against the defaulters is seeking the court’s intervention after exhausting all available means to recover the money.
In court on Wednesday prosecution was ordered to ensure that the landlords appear in person as it adjourned the case to August 28.
Ashanti South Regional Manager of GWCL, Ing. Edward Kwabena Agyekum appealed to customers to pay for the water they use promptly.
“I want to urge our customers to make every effort to pay for the water they consume. The inability of customers to pay their bills is a matter of attitude, and that is why I am calling on all Ghanaians to pay for the water they use. When bills are paid on time, it helps us to continue to provide water to homes.”
