Kwadaso MP loses delayed NPP primaries

The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso Dr. Samiu Nuamah has lost his bid for re-election in the 2020 general polls.

In a delayed primaries held on Wednesday, the incumbent lost to Dr. Kingsley Nyarko after polling 158 votes as against the latter’s 179.

The MP’s defeat brings the number of losing incumbents in the NPP primaries to 42.

Some 389 delegates participated in the exercise. Security was tight at the time of the internal poll.

Meanwhile, pockets of violence that were reported during Saturday’s parliamentary primaries held by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be investigated, the national chairman Freddie Blay has assured.

In a statement, Mr. Blay also condemned the act.

There were multiple reports of violence in some constituencies allegedly perpetrated by some supporters of various aspirants in protest against election results.
