Premier League side Leeds United FC are close to signing Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah from France top-flight side AJ Auxerre, Dailymailgh.com understands.

The struggling side have identified the defender as the perfect solution for their left-back inconsistencies this season in the top-flight on England.

Current Leeds manager Manager Jesse Marsch, worked with the Ghana international during his time at Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and wants to bring him to sign the left-back this transfer window.

The French Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre may want to listen to offers from around 12 million euros for the signature of the player.

The 24-year-old has had spells with Austrian sides RB Salzburg and Sturm Graz, Belgian outfit Zulte Waregem and Vitoria Guimaraes of Portugal.

The Ghana International has made nine appearances in the 2022-23 French Ligue 1 campaign for the Blue and Whites outfit.
