Limited voter registration: EC registers over 520k new voters countrywide

A total of 522,025 registered voters as of Sunday (19 May), the Electoral Commission has announced.

During a press conference in Accra on Tuesday (21 May), Samuel Tetteh, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations at the EC, provided a detailed breakdown of voter registration across various regions and gender distribution.

Regional Breakdown of Registered Voters:

• Greater Accra: 74,420 voters (14.3%)
• North East: 14,147 voters (2.7%)
• Upper East: 20,135 voters (3.9%)
• Northern: 47,948 voters (9.2%)
• Bono: 20,886 voters (4.0%)
• Bono East: 18,861 voters (3.6%)
• Volta: 26,486 voters (5.1%)
• Upper West: 15,652 voters (3.0%)
• Eastern: 48,563 voters (9.3%)
• Central: 56,141 voters (10.8%)
• Ahafo: 10,861 voters (2.1%)
• Ashanti: 90,480 voters (17.3%)
• Western North: 16,225 voters (3.1%)
• Oti: 14,844 voters (2.8%)
• Savannah: 12,767 voters (2.4%)
• Western: 33,609 voters (6.4%)

Gender Distribution of Registered Voters:

• Male: 246,455 (47.21%)
• Female: 275,570 (52.79%)
