The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has bemoaned the state of the Benchema- Oseikojokrom road in the Western North Region.
Speaking at various stops on the second day of his tour of the region, Mr. Mahama said, “I am disappointed traveling on the Benchema- Oseikojokrom road, still in this really terrible state. We had begun work on the road when I was in office but the Akufo-Addo government decided to stop the project”.
He has therefore assured the communities affected that all abandoned road and other infrastructure projects will be fully resumed in 2021.
The NDC Flagbearer has so far visited Elluokrom, Adjoafoa, Moseskrom in Debiso and Oseikojokrom all in the Bia West Constituency.
Responding to the concerns of the farmers who gathered at Elluokrom, Mr. Mahama assured them that he will reinstitute the free fertilizer programme in 2021 when he wins the 2020 elections. The programme was stopped by President Akufo-Addo. Mr. Mahama explained that the supply of free fertilizers and other incentives given to cocoa farmers is to motivate them and increase annual production.
He also assured the chief and people that the next NDC administration will absorb into the government system, the Elluokrom Community College.
At Adjoafua, in response to the request of the chief and his people, former President Mahama promised to construct a Community Day Secondary School for the area.
