President John Dramani Mahama has called on the people of Bawku in the Upper East Region to embrace peace during the Ramadan celebrations.

Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr event organized by the National Chief Imam at Accra’s Black Star Square on Monday, March 31, 2025, Mahama emphasized that Ramadan is a time for unity and reconciliation. He urged all factions involved in the Bawku conflict to put aside their differences and work towards lasting peace, highlighting that conflict disrupts livelihoods and hinders development.

“Finally, as we celebrate this Ramadan, I want to urge my brothers and sisters in Bawku to give peace a chance. Ramadan is a period for togetherness,” he stated.

Mahama also called on religious and traditional leaders to play a crucial role in mediating disputes and fostering dialogue among all parties. He stressed that collective efforts are necessary to restore stability and harmony in the region.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to ensuring peace and development in Bawku, Mahama urged residents to embrace the spirit of the season.

“Let us use this sacred occasion to reflect on the values of love, forgiveness, and harmony. Together, we can build a stronger and more united community,” he advised.

His appeal resonated with many, reinforcing the need for dialogue and reconciliation to secure a peaceful future for Bawku.
