John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated his commitment to collaborating with traditional leaders to promote Ghanaian festivals. He emphasized that this effort is part of a broader plan to stimulate local economies, boost cultural tourism, and showcase Ghana’s rich heritage on the global stage.
Mahama made these remarks during a visit to the Ga Mantse’s palace on Thursday, November 28, where he met with King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and the Ga Traditional Council. This visit was part of his ongoing tour of the Greater Accra region as the December 7 general elections approach.
He expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm and colorful reception from the Ga Mantse, chiefs, queen mothers, and other dignitaries present at the palace. Reflecting on the visit, Mahama took to his Facebook page to acknowledge the vital role traditional leaders play in Ghanaian society.
Additionally, Mahama emphasized the importance of festivals, stating that they are not just cultural events but also economic drivers that can foster growth in local communities. He pledged to work closely with chiefs and other traditional authorities to ensure these festivals receive the necessary visibility and support to create meaningful, lasting impact.
