John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has made a compelling argument for his re-election in the December 7 polls. The former President contended that Ghana requires an experienced leader to tackle its economic challenges, rather than an experimental one.

During a community engagement in Juapong in the Volta Region, Mahama emphasized the next NDC administration’s commitment to prioritizing youth development. He advised the youth to accept money offered by politicians but to make the right decision by voting out the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Before the election, they will come with plenty of money. When they come, I urge you to take it. But on election day, remember the eight years of suffering, hunger, and poverty, and vote for the government and president who will turn this nation around,” Mahama said.

He criticized the approach of new political leaders, stating, “In 2016, they said, ‘Oh, try me and if I don’t do well in four years, you can vote me out.’ The same thing is being said now by another candidate. But the youth of this country do not have the time to experiment with anyone new.”

Mahama called for a return to experienced leadership, asserting, “What we need is an experienced hand who has managed this country before and whose work we have seen. We are not going to try anybody new. We are going back to experience and expertise to turn our country around so that our youth can have a brighter future.”
