President John Dramani Mahama has urged members of the newly inaugurated Ghana Armed Forces Council to carry out their responsibilities with wisdom, integrity, and a steadfast dedication to national service.
Addressing the council during their swearing-in ceremony on Monday, March 24, President Mahama emphasized the council’s vital role in upholding Ghana’s stability, enhancing national security, and ensuring the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) adheres to the highest standards of professionalism.
He reminded the members that their decisions would have significant consequences on the nation’s defense policies and the overall welfare of military personnel.
Highlighting their mandate, the President stressed the importance of maintaining and safeguarding the peace Ghana has long enjoyed. He called on the council to be proactive in recognizing and tackling emerging security threats before they escalate.
“In today’s world, the nature of our security threats is rapidly evolving. From terrorism and cybercrime to political instability and climate-related security challenges,” he noted.
President Mahama further urged the council to adopt a forward-thinking and vigilant stance in addressing national security concerns. He emphasized that their leadership and strategic decisions would shape the future of the Ghana Armed Forces.
“The decision you make as a council will shape the future of our Armed Forces, and it is therefore imperative that you approach this job with wisdom and integrity and a deep commitment to national service,” he stated.
With these remarks, the President reaffirmed the critical role of the Armed Forces Council in ensuring the safety and security of the nation while upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.
