President-elect John Dramani Mahama has promised to address the shortcomings of the outgoing Akufo-Addo administration and lead Ghana toward transparency, accountability, and fiscal discipline.

In his 2025 New Year’s address, Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to combating corruption and curbing government overspending. He emphasized the importance of restoring integrity and efficiency in governance, offering hope to Ghanaians ahead of his swearing-in on January 7.

“We will work tirelessly to correct the outgoing administration’s many wrongs, tackle corruption with dogged determination, and reduce excessive government expenditures. Each citizen’s voice will be heard, and together, we will build a Ghana that reflects our collective hopes and dreams—the Ghana we all want and voted convincingly for,” Mahama stated.

He urged Ghanaians to unite in optimism and purpose, emphasizing the importance of rebuilding the nation’s economy and governance structures.

“Together, let us embrace positivity and hope. Let us stand united in the belief that we can reset our economy, restore dignity and integrity, and renew our collective commitment to building the Ghana we want—a Ghana of opportunities, equity, and shared success,” he added.

Mahama also highlighted his administration’s focus on creating a streamlined, effective government that prioritizes inclusivity and reflects the aspirations of all citizens.

To business owners and entrepreneurs, the President-elect pledged his unwavering support.

“To business owners and entrepreneurs, I want to assure you that my administration will support your efforts to create jobs and wealth. We are committed to removing barriers, simplifying processes, and providing the necessary resources to empower you to build and expand your businesses,” he assured.

With these commitments, Mahama’s leadership offers hope for meaningful reforms and a renewed focus on addressing Ghana’s challenges.
