Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola offered words of support to Maurizio Sarri after thrashing his Chelsea 6-0 on Sunday.

City were superb against the Londoners with Sergio Aguero claiming a hat-trick, Raheem Sterling scoring twice and Ilkay Gundogan also on the scoresheet.

“My first year was difficult too. It needs time and only depends on the owners and the people in charge really believing in that,” Guardiola said.

“The main reason I came to City was that my bosses, especially Txiki (Begiristain) and the chairman understood me.

“They believe in me. That’s why I’m enjoying it here in Manchester. Today we were really good and that’s why we won.”
