A Toyota bus heading to Ho from Kumasi veered off the road, and somersaulted into Ashitey curve in the lower Manya Krobo Municipality in the Eastern region, injuring 11 passengers Friday.
One of the injured victims, George Kojo Aboagye, 47, who spoke to the media, said that the engine of the Toyota bus failed when they reached Ashitey Mountain. The driver’s attempts to apply the brake, however, did not yield result, so the bus suddenly skidded off the road, somersaulting in the Ashitey curve.
The injured victims have been conveyed to St Martins De Porres Hospital at Agomanya, and the emergency unit of Atua Government Hospital at Atua Somanya, all in the Eastern region for treatment.
The Odumase Krobo Police Command has secured the belongings of the victims for safekeeping. It said it is working tirelessly to get in touch with relatives of the victims.
