A soldier has died in what appears to be an attack by a mob in Taifa, a community in Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region, multiple reports say.

This has sparked calls for justice for the deceased identified only as Sherrif Imoro.

The uniformed officer was found unresponsive in the early hours of Saturday (March 4) lying in a pool of blood. He was later confirmed dead after crime scene management.

His backpack and other belongings were found beside him at the gory scene which has been widely circulated online.

The Daily Guide newspaper indicated that some personal effects including his mobile phone were stolen although the Ghana Police Service was yet to confirm this report.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media for the man described by many as brave and kind. His body had been deposited at the military hospital at the time of filing this report.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) was yet to provide any further details nearly 24 hours after the incident.
