The Minority in Parliament has strongly criticized what it calls an attempt to intimidate Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member on the Interior and Defence Committee, by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
This reaction comes after the MP raised concerns over two suspicious flights that landed at the Kotoka International Airport, which he alleged were transporting drugs and large sums of cash.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, April 9, after an unsuccessful effort by the NIB to arrest the MP at his Accra residence, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed firm support for their colleague. He declared, “We will not be intimidated.”
He further described the actions of the NIB as “politically motivated” and accused the agency of trying to suppress dissenting voices in Parliament.
Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the Minority is fully committed to ensuring transparency in the investigation of the MP’s claims, saying that “due process must be followed.”
He concluded by urging Ghanaians to stay vigilant and lend their support to the pursuit of justice and fairness, stating, “We call on the public to remain alert and support efforts to uphold justice and fairness.
