Ghana giant Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have been booted out of the 2022-23 MTN FA CUP competition by ‘New Rivals’ Aduana Stars FC on Sunday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors failed to progress to the next stage of the 2022-23 MTN FA CUP competition after suffering defeat to the Fire Lads on the road.
Aduana Stars who are top of the 2022-23 Ghana Premier League pipped the Porcupine Warriors to book a place in the last 8 of the Cup competition with a slim win at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa.
The opening 45 minutes of the match failed to produce a goal despite both teams having some decent chances in the game.
Early in the second half of the match, former Accra Hearts of Oak SC player, Mohammed Alhassan was punished for what seemed a good tackle in the box.
Sam Adams stepped up to convert the resulting spot kick to put the hosts 1-0 up early in the second half which was eventually what all the team needed to eliminate Asante Kotoko SC from the competition.
For the third straight season, Kotoko have failed to reach the semi-final of the MTN FA Cup competition with Aduana Stars FC now favourite to lift the trophy as defending champions Hearts of Oak SC are also out.
