NDC MP for Asawase Muntaka Mubarak says he has filed a petition to the regional party leadership and the police to take action against his Constituency Chairman, Faisal Dauda.

Mr Dauda at a press conference accused the lawmaker of planning to take his life. He also alleged that the Minority Chief Whip is in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party and has been scheming for the NDC to lose the 2024 elections.

But Muntaka Mubarak says the action against his chairman will put matters to rest.

“Our party has a constitution, our party has its rules I listened to all the frivolous allegations, I have reported to the party, to the region, and the criminal aspect of it, which is somebody planning to kill somebody, murder is not a joke in our country, I’ve since reported that to the police station”, he stated.

“And I hope our party will take our constitution seriously, a lot of the things were anti-party behaviour and our party frown on them, I hope the party will take the necessary measures”, he added.

The Asawase Constituency is believed to be one of the strongholds for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Ashanti region.

As the party garners more votes in the area, recent friction between the Member of Parliament and the constituency chairman has worried many, particularly party supporters.

The party is however taking steps to resolve all internal matters.

Top officials in the party led by the Chairman, Asiedu Nketiah embarked on a reconciliation tour in the Ashanti region. Asiedu Nketiah called for calm as he urged party members to stay united ahead of the 2024 elections.
