Black Meteors defender Edward Sarpong has revealed that his family is in serious danger after he missed the decisive spot kick.

“I’ve been insulted massively in my area and it has even affected my family,” Sarpong said.

He said his family has been subjected to public assault due to his penalty miss at the Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

“When my sisters go out they are verbally attacked because everyone in our area knows they are my sisters.

“My mum can’t go out because anytime she comes out she’s insulted and she was even scared.”

The 22-year-old said his mother is worried and advised him not to go out from his house.

“My mom asked me not to even go out again because she felt people will attack me,” he told Adom FM.
