Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh emerges as top contender to succeed Napo in Manhyia South

Nana Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, has emerged as the front-runner for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate position for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region.

Currently serving as the financial secretary and acting treasurer of the Manhyia South Constituency, Prempeh has garnered overwhelming support from delegates to succeed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who vacated the seat after being chosen to partner Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the presidential running mate in the 2024 elections.

Delegates praise Prempeh as a unifying figure, experienced politician, and visionary leader capable of helping the party retain power.

Some delegates, speaking anonymously, expressed frustration with electoral area coordinators, accusing them of intimidation and poor leadership, which has created divisions within the constituency.

They believe the party may perform poorly in the constituency if Prempeh is not selected.

Prempeh is seen as a hard-working and accessible leader who has spearheaded development projects, including the Astro Turf of Konadu Yiadom Park.

The youth in the constituency prefer Prempeh, viewing him as a true party person, resourceful, bold, and a unifier among the candidates.

The fierce contest is expected to be held on Sunday (14 July).
