Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured that the party will swiftly address a petition submitted by over 40 constituency women organizers to the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC). The petition concerns alleged misconduct by the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.
Gbande emphasized that the party would take appropriate action once they are fully informed about the matter.
The women organizers’ petition accused Ashie Moore of repeatedly displaying aggressive behavior and threatening assault against some leading women in the party. They stressed the urgency of the situation, citing the strategic importance of the Greater Accra Region in the 2024 elections. They argued that addressing Ashie Moore’s behavior is crucial for the women’s wing of the party to perform its duties confidently and contribute to the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Gbande stated, “This petition is not anything strange. Every party goes through some of these difficulties. We do have mechanisms to address internal conflicts.”
He further assured, “What you can count upon is that this current leadership is fortified to take decisions that will deal with it squarely… So when the General Secretary is properly briefed, FEC is properly briefed, and leadership is properly briefed wherever the axe might be the party will put the axe there and if it is a matter to reconcile, the party will do so and will proceed.”
Gbande added, “…So, if you see any internal conflict around the NDC. It is nothing too serious, it is not too strange. It will be dealt with and according to our laws.”
