Tamale North Member of Parliament, Alhassan Suhuyini, has urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reflect on its recent electoral victory and embrace the significant responsibility that comes with it. His comments follow the party’s success in the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, Suhuyini highlighted the need for the NDC, led by President-elect John Dramani Mahama, to recognize the weight of expectations from Ghanaians.

“It is a victory that requires reflection. The funfair should be over by now. We need to understand the level of responsibility that has been placed on His Excellency the President’s shoulders and by extension the shoulders of the NDC. The margin of victory should not let us lose sight of the fact that expectation is also that high,” Suhuyini said.

He also criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he described as poor leadership, which he believes contributed to their loss.

“Yes, the NPP was abysmal in government. Their style of leadership in many instances provoked people, and I am sure it is that provocation that has manifested in the endorsement that the NDC got,” he stated.

Suhuyini called on the NDC to remain focused and ensure they deliver on their promises, as the electorate’s trust places a heavy responsibility on the party to meet the high expectations.
