Dutch national team manager Ronald Koeman is courting PSV Eindhoven youngster of Ghanaian descent Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo, 20, has been in fine form for the Dutch Eredivise side since last season, attracting interest from the senior national team boss.

“The bigger competitions have not yet started but we are going around the fields to get more talented young guys on the radar,” Koeman told Voetballkrant.

“At AZ we have seen Myron Boadu and Calvin Stengs, both young but with lots of potential. We have also spotted Cody Gakpo and Donyell Malen who are all great talents and fall in our plans. It is nice we get a little more to choose from in an offensive way but that is mostly due to the development of those players and themselves.”

The Netherlands will battle Germany as well as Estonia in the Euro 2020 qualifiers next month and Gakpo together with Boadu are in line for a call-up.

Gakpo was born to a Ghanaian-Togolese father and a Dutch mother and is eligible to represent all three countries at senior level.

He currently plays for the Dutch national Under 21 team.
