The National Identification Authority (NIA) has sacked 12 of its contract staff over what has been described as violation of directives and regulations.
Four other officers have also been suspended for one month.
According to the NIA, some of the persons in question were dismissed on the grounds of absenteeism and working beyond the time allocated without authorization.
These actions come at a time when the Authority is under fire from the public after a registration officer was arrested last week allegedly attempting to register two Nigeriens.
Reports said the 26- year-old suspect, Timothy Wuni, attached to the Abossey Okay Central Mosque registration center, was caught by his supervisor in the process of registering the foreigners without the appropriate documentation.
