NIA holds back over 110,000 Ghana cards due to double registration issues

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has reported that over 110,000 Ghana Cards have been withheld due to issues with double registrations.

 

To date, the NIA has successfully issued more than 18 million cards. However, approximately 150,000 cards remain pending printing.

 

During a presentation before the Assurance Committee of Parliament, Prof. Kenneth Agyeman Attafuah, Executive Secretary of the NIA, revealed that investigations into these multiple registration cases have begun.

 

“As of August 20, 2024, the total number of unissued cards stands at 559,457, with 150,896 of these cards cleared and ready for printing,” Attafuah stated. He also noted, “We have identified 110,936 individuals who attempted multiple registrations, resulting in their cards being withheld for further investigation.”
