The Director of the National Investigation Bureau (NIB), Nana Attobrah Quaicoe, has strongly denied allegations that he contacted Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, to return a property he is accused of acquiring unlawfully.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, Quaicoe expressed shock over the accusations, emphasizing that he has never approached Ablakwa or any member of the ORAL team about returning any property.

“I have never had any engagement with the ORAL team regarding the return of any property. The claims are completely false,” Quaicoe stated.

He clarified that all the properties he owns were acquired through legal means and that none of them is subject to any legal disputes.

The NIB Director’s response came after private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu alleged in a telephone interview with Channel One News’ Hanson Agyemang that Quaicoe had personally reached out to Ablakwa. According to Kpebu, the discussion involved Quaicoe expressing readiness to return a parcel of land situated in the Agri-mechanisation lands area near the El Wak Stadium in Accra.

Kpebu also questioned the legitimacy of the land’s rezoning process, claiming it was improperly conducted without parliamentary approval. “The rezoning process was flawed, and without the involvement of Parliament, it renders the acquisition of the land illegitimate,” he argued.

However, Quaicoe dismissed these claims as baseless. “These accusations are entirely untrue. I have had no involvement with the ORAL team or any property-related matters,” he reiterated.

The Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team was established by President John Dramani Mahama on December 18, 2024. Its mandate is to recover state assets and properties that were unlawfully acquired, particularly during past administrations.

The five-member team, chaired by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, aims to promote accountability and restore public confidence in the management of state assets.
