Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour believes the Super Eagles of Nigeria look better than the Black Stars of Ghana on paper ahead of the two-legged Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
Nonetheless, the former German Bundesliga giant Bayern München player was quick to say games between the two African giants have nothing to do with who is on form.
In an interview on Kessben FM in Kumasi, the Black Stars Management Committee member said Ghana vs Nigeria game is always about who has the desire to win.
“On paper they (Nigeria) look much better than us but with Nigeria vs Ghana games, names do not matter. It is about the mentality and the desire to win”,the former Ghana player told Kessben FM.
He ccontinued and linked Ghana vs Nigeria games to that of the meetings between the two most glamorous clubs and rivals in Ghana, Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC.
“It is like Hearts vs Kotoko”Coach Otto Addo has named a 27 man squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play offs against Nigeria”, he added.
Ghana will face the Super Eagles in two matches scheduled for Kumasi and Abuja respectively as the search for a ticket to November’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar heats up.
Ghana will host the 1st leg at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Friday, March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the 2nd leg on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
