A deputy chief of staff Francis Asenso-Boakye has floored the incumbent MP for Bantama Daniel Okyem Aboagye to represent the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections.
Asenso-Boakye polled 452 votes in the primaries to beat Aboagye who had 122 votes.
Speaking to the media after the declaration, Mr. Asenso-Boakye said he will work to ensure unity in the party. He also urged the beaten MP to support his campaign to ensure victory for the NPP in the national polls.
“This is a resounding victory for Asenso-Boakye,” he declared.
Meanwhile, the executive secretary of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), Dr. Prince Armah, has beaten the incumbent MP for Kwesimintsim constituency to become the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Armah polled 202 votes against Joseph Mensah’s 135 votes to lead the NPP in the constituency ahead of the 2020 general elections.
