The spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has won the Old Tafo constituency primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Assafuah polled 299 votes ahead of five other contenders including Dr Louise Carol Serwah Donkor, who had 133 votes.
The others Prince Odeneho Oppong, Emmanuel Obeng, Lord Inusah Lansah and Archibald Acquah had 90, 44, 27 and 0 votes respectively out of a total of 610 votes cast.
In other results, Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah has lost his bid to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 parliamentary elections in the New Juaben South Constituency.
Mr. Assibey-Yeboah, who is the chairman of the finance committee in parliament, lost in Saturday’s primaries to the CEO of the Ghana FreeZones Board, Michael Okyere Baafi.
Mr. Baafi polled 372 votes against 200 for Assibey-yeboah.
Meanwhile, the national communications director of the New Patriotic Party Yaw Buaben Asamoa has won the parliamentary primaries in the Adentan constituency.
