A petition has been submitted to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling for the removal of the Constituency Chairman Stephen Boateng and Secretary Foster Amankwa of Atwima Nwabiagya South from the election committee.

The petition addressed to the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the party, alleges that the officials have shown bias by openly supporting a specific aspirant, George Tuffour, raising concerns about the integrity of the January 27 primaries.

The controversy stems from a reported delegation led by the duo to distribute “Christmas gifts” to selected delegates. This action has raised eyebrows among party members, with accusations that it was a subtle attempt to influence delegate opinions in favour of a particular candidate.

“We deem this act to be a clear declaration of their interest in the impending parliamentary election. By so doing we do not think it is proper and right for the two executives to be part any body that is mandated to supervise the same elections, that they have already taken side”, the lead petitioner Frank Adu Duffour stated.

“For the sake of natural justice and for the avoidance of any form of conflict of interest, we urge you to implore on the Chairman and the Secretary to recuse themselves from the election committee of the ANSC”, he further added.
