Nsoatreman SC secured a thrilling victory in the FA Cup final against Bofoakwa Tano, triumphing 5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon on Sunday.
The game began with both teams showing determination and vigor on the field. Nsoatreman SC, who had a commendable fourth-place finish in the recent Ghana Premier League season, were eager to culminate their successful campaign with a trophy.
On the other hand, Bofoakwa Tano, who faced the heartbreak of relegation after a hard-earned return to the top flight following 16 years, viewed the FA Cup final as a chance to salvage their season.
In the 22nd minute, Bofoakwa Tano grabbed the lead with a finely executed goal by Richard Dzikoe. The team from Sunyani seemed on course to lift the trophy as they maintained their advantage well into the second half.
However, with only 11 minutes left on the clock, Sadat Mohammed of Nsoatreman SC netted a crucial equaliser, sending the match into extra time.
Despite both teams creating numerous opportunities during the added period, they couldn’t find the breakthrough, leading to a tense penalty shootout. Nsoatreman SC kept their cool and emerged victorious with a 5-4 win in the shootout, sparking exuberant celebrations among their players and fans.
Following this remarkable triumph, Nsoatreman SC earned the opportunity to represent Ghana in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
