Ghana’s interim head coach Otto Addo is brimming in confidence ahead of the Black Stars crucial World Cup second leg playoffs against Nigeria on Tuesday evening.
The coach believes Black Stars will beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Abuja on Tuesday to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar.
On paper, Nigeria are looks favourites to secure qualification after holding Ghana to a goalless draw in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Nigeria need a win while Ghana would advance with a win or a scoring draw but Nigeria would fancy their chances against a Ghana team that hasn’t been doing so well off late and especially playing in front of a 60, 000 capacity of fans.
“The result doesn’t change anything. When we go there we want to win.”
“Even though our Africa Cup of Nations was not good this year, you saw we matched Nigeria in the first leg,” said the former Black Star.
“So I don’t see them as favourites, the pressure will be on them at home and away goals can hurt a lot.”
Ghana will enter Tuesday’s game hoping to avoid missing the World Cup finals for the second time in a row after failing to qualify for the 2018 edition in Russia.
Ghana qualified for three tournaments in a row before Egypt beat them to the ticket in 2018 tournament hosted in Russia.
Nigeria are hoping to make their seventh appearance, having participated in the previous three tournaments.
Black Stars are expected to depart Ghana on Monday morning with a chartered flight for the game.
