Ghana’s Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has hailed Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the Asante monarch marked his 70th birthday yesterday.

“Asanteman will forever be grateful for May 6, 1950, the day Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was born. Otumfuo, since his ascension to the Golden Stool 21 years ago, has been a blessing to Asanteman, Ghana and the world at large,” a post on Facebook written by the Manhyia South lawmaker Wednesday read in part.

He continued: “I am particularly thrilled by Otumfuo’s contribution to education and peace building and the transformation of the country. On this glorious birthday, I wish to congratulate him on behalf of the Manhyia South Constituency.”

“It is my fervent prayer that Otumfuo will be blessed with long life and sound health to sustain his positive work for humanity”, he ended.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II became the occupant of the Golden Stool in 1999 following the demise of his uncle,  Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.
