Popular preacher Rev. Owusu Bempah led a group of gun-wielding men to a pro-opposition station Radio XYX on Friday in search of controversial broadcaster Salifu ‘Mugabe’ Maase.
Daily Mail GH is in possession of an audio depicting what transpired at the station located at Accra suburb of Adjirigano in which the prophet and his men were heard threatening the staff.
According to the staff, the gun-wielding men seized some phones they assumed were being used to record the melee at the station belonging to a former chief of staff under the John Mahama administration, Julius Debrah.
A staff told Daily Mail GH that the administrator of Radio XYZ was heckled by the gunmen in their bid to get hold of ‘Mugabe’.
The incident comes at the back of a statement released by National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer Mahama, describing the self-styled preacher as a “biased prophet” following a recent claim by Rev. Bempah that Mahama and a few others are plotting to kill Akufo-Addo.
Rev. Bempah, who is a close associate of Akufo-Addo, alleged on pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) radio station Oman FM that some leading members of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) including Mahama are plotting to take away the lives of Akufo-Addo and Bawumia.
“A certain meeting has been held and I want to talk about that meeting that was held on this station. I am saying this as Owusu Bempah I have seen. That they have hired people to kill me. And they have said that they would do whatever is in their power to eliminate President Nana Akufo-Addo, as well as the vice president and our Papa Kennedy Agyapong and Chairman Wontumi. In total they are 5 people. Ghanaian should take serious note of what I am saying,” Bempah alleged.
Reacting to the accusations, Mr. Mahama said the claims must “remain imaginations of a warped mind and effusions of a politically-tainted founder of a church who would say and do anything to attract attention to himself.”
