The Parliamentary ad-hoc committee, tasked with investigating the recent vetting chaos at the Appointments Committee, will resume its public hearing on Friday, February 7, 2025, according to its Chairman, Emmanuel Bedzrah.
The announcement follows the sudden suspension of proceedings on Wednesday, February 5, which was initially linked to a directive from Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin. However, it was later clarified that the decision to halt the hearing actually came from the Clerk of Parliament, not the Speaker.
Speaker Orders Continuation of Proceedings
Speaking on Joy FM on Thursday, February 6, Bedzrah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ho West, confirmed that Speaker Bagbin has instructed the committee to resume its work.
“I need to meet with my committee members this morning. We agreed to have a meeting at 3 O’clock, by which time I would have received some information from the Speaker. So, for today, there won’t be any public hearings. We will continue tomorrow, Friday, February 7,” Bedzrah stated.
He further emphasized the Speaker’s commitment to ensuring that the investigation proceeds without unnecessary delays.
“…The Speaker called and said, ‘No, we cannot stop this work, we should continue,’ and he has given direct instruction to the Clerk that we should continue,” he added.
