Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan believes people talk about him because he is a “great person.”

“When I’m being mobbed by the people when I go out, I feel good like, you’ve done an incredible job, people do appreciate you,” Ghana’s all-time top scorer told Accra-based TV3.

He added: “When I compare those two (love and hatred), do you know how I call it, greatness.”

According to him, people won’t waste their time talking about someone unless the person is a great person hence the reason why people discuss him.

“You know what, if you are not great, you will not even get a lot of people to talk bad or good things about you. It’s a balanced thing, so I call it greatness, because everybody wants to hear something about Asamoah Gyan, people want to hear something about you”.

Gyan stressed that he does not allow it to get into his head although being discussed by people serves as “motivation to him.”

“So it’s good, it’s a good thing,” the former Sunderland striker noted.
