Philanthropist and CEO of Salt Media Group, Ohene Kwame Frimpong has announced his bid to contest as an Independent Candidate for the Asante Akyem Constituency ahead of the 2024 polls.
He made this known during the grand launch of an ultramodern mosque in the Ashanti Region town.
The historic ceremony, held under the auspices of Agogo’s Omanhene Nana Akuoko Sarpong, saw high-profile religious and traditional leaders, including Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
Mr Frimpong, who personally funded and oversaw the construction of the Agogo Central Mosque, expressed his deep commitment to the constituency, stating, “I truly have the Asante Akyem Constituency at heart, and I want to get into a higher position, being an MP, to be able to do more for the people.”
The declaration, he said, adds a new dimension to his transformative initiatives. Before the mosque’s commissioning, he had demonstrated his dedication to the underserved by significant donations to widows and the vulnerable in Asante Akyem Agogo communities during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
The National Chief Imam presented special recognition awards to Mr Ohene Kwame Frimpong for his benevolence and extraordinary efforts in fostering religious harmony. Prayers were offered in the mosque led by the Chief Imam and other Islamic leaders present.
As Mr Frimpong ventures into politics, he aims to bring his impactful leadership to the Asante Akyem Constituency. The announcement further unveiled his intention to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections for the Asante Akyem North constituency, envisioning additional development for the region.
