The Ghana Armed Forces have taken delivery of an undisclosed number of FIXAR 007 fully autonomous drones for a variety of missions, including intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), border patrol, and search and rescue.
Manufactured by the Latvian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) company Fixar, the drones have a range of up to 100 kilometres and can fly for up to three hours, according to the Military Africa website.
The FIXAR 007 is also equipped with a variety of sensors, including a high-resolution camera, a thermal imaging camera, and a laser rangefinder that the Ghana army can use to monitor its borders, track down criminals, and search for missing people.
The VTOL design allows FIXAR 007 to take off and land vertically, eliminating the need for lengthy runways and expanding its operational flexibility. This feature is especially crucial for military applications where rapid deployment and adaptability are essential.
The FIXAR 007 stands as a fully autonomous VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) fixed-wing drone meticulously crafted to cater to the demands of professionals engaged in drone mapping, inspections, aerial imaging, precision agriculture, oil and gas sectors, surveillance, monitoring, and various other industries.
Distinguished by its user-friendly design and minimal maintenance requirements, this drone can be swiftly deployed in under five minutes, the report said. Its remarkable vertical take-off and landing precision, with an accuracy field of 1 metre, further enhances its efficiency.
Notably, the FIXAR 007 UAV for mapping and surveying excels in hassle-free missions, eliminating the need for launch catapults or landing pad preparations.
