“A cat has caused the blast of some CTs (equipment) at Anwomaso substation. Supply to some areas have been affected but work to restore supply has commenced”, the spokesperson for PDS in the Ashanti Region, Mr Erasmus Kyere Baidoo said in a brief statement Monday.
Workers, however confirmed that the stray cat died in the process.
Some parts of the Ashanti Region have been experiencing intermittent power supply in recent times with businesses seriously affected.
Residents at Aputuogya, Adagya and other adjoining communities in the Bosomtwe District have been experiencing the problem for days.
The situation at Kodie, Akrowa, Monwire also in the Afigya Kwabre District is no different.
Mr. Kyere Baidoo, had explained that not all power cuts in the region are intentional.
He allayed the fears of residents of Kumasi that planned power cuts popularly called ‘Dumsor’ was about to return into the Ashanti Region.
According to him, PDS is currently not experiencing any challenges that could lead to ‘Dumsor’ returning, so the people should not worry about anything.
The PDS PRO said in a recent interview that the recent intermittent power cuts that were experienced in the Ashanti Region don’t necessarily mean ‘Dumsor’ is looming.
