The police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the 20 December 2022 mobile money robbery incident at Kasoa, an official statement said.
The police said a robbery gang, armed with a pump-action gun concealed in a baby diaper sack, attacked and shot a mobile money merchant, at his business centre.
“The suspects were so heartless that as the victim attempted to flee for his life they pursued him, shot him from behind and robbed him of an unspecified amount of money,” the police said.
Three of the robbers were arrested late December 2022.
“With reference to our earlier publication on the Kasoa Mobile Money robbery, which occurred on 20 December 2022, we are pleased to announce, as promised, that through sustained police intelligence operations, the last suspect has also been arrested,” the police statement said.
The last suspect named as Ahmed alias ‘Arrested’ was picked up on Monday 2 January 2023 at Nyanyano near Kasoa in the Central Region.
He will be arraigned in court.
The other suspects are on remand and will reappear in court on 12 January.
